The Fashion Framework

A 1:1 Consulting Program for Start-Up Clothing Brands

If you are dreaming of starting your own clothing brand but do not have the experience, network, or capacity to wear all the hats, we have got you. The Visionise Fashion Framework is a guided 1:1 consulting program designed for start-ups and early-stage brands who need real guidance, not guesswork.

Launching a clothing brand is complex and often leads to costly mistakes. With over 20 years of industry expertise, global supplier networks, and proven systems, we streamline the process to minimise mistakes and maximise efficiency. You will have a dedicated Senior Fashion Designer and Production Manager guiding you at every step, ensuring confidence and clarity from your first idea through to your first bulk order.

Is the Fashion Framework Right for You?

The Fashion Framework is built for founders who are new to the fashion industry and want expert guidance to build their brand properly from the start. It is the right fit if any of these sound like you:

  • You have a clothing brand idea but are not sure where to start.
  • You have been researching manufacturers and feel overwhelmed or uncertain about who to trust.
  • You have sketches, photos, or ideas but no clear plan for communicating them to a manufacturer.
  • You want a realistic picture of costs and timelines before committing money to production.
  • You want professional support rather than figuring it out alone and risking costly mistakes.

If you already have offshore manufacturing experience and just need factory access, the Manufacturing Platform may be a better fit. Not sure? Book a free discovery call and we will point you in the right direction.

What is included

01. Fashion Design and Business Resources

From day one, you get access to a full suite of resources to help you plan and build your brand. This includes target market research templates, our ‘Start a Fashion Brand Guide’, design templates and tools, Pantone library, business set-up resources and a project management system that outlines all your actionable steps, current status, timelines, and checklists to keep your business on track.

02. Range Budget Planning and Feasibility

You will receive a production quotation from one of our manufacturers, matched to your product type and criteria. We calculate your landed cost, pricing strategy, and add in all the overheads and time set-up costs to start a brand from scratch, so we can determine your profitability together.

Numbers can be a scary part of launching a brand, so we break it all down with you and map out your range feasibility before you commit to production. Learn more about what it costs to start a clothing brand in Australia.

03. One-on-One Mentorship

Your 1:1 time with your dedicated Designer and Production Manager is capped at 5 hours, including a budget meeting with the director. In addition, equal time is allocated for internal work such as emailing, reporting, sourcing, design brief handovers, and general communication with manufacturers and suppliers. Additional hours can be added on request. See our design services for additional support options.

The program is designed to teach you how to manage the process. Much of the internal work is also part of the coaching, and you are involved in the process, not just watching from the sidelines.

04. Access to the Visionise Fabric Library

We love fabric. We will show you great sustainable fabric options suited to your range. If we do not have what you are looking for in house, we use our extensive offshore supplier network to source it.

Fabric sourcing works in two stages:

  • Tech packs stage: Our design team uses our in-office fabric library to specify the fabric for the tech packs (for quotation purposes).
  • Sample stage: Once you have approved a production quote, the chosen factory sources the fabric with their suppliers to match our spec in the tech packs. We send fabric swatches for your approval once sourced.

Learn more about our fabric sourcing service.

05. Access to Reliable and Ethical Manufacturers

We love our factories and have worked with them for many years. We keep our manufacturing pool intentionally small so we can ensure every client works with quality, ethical, and reliable factories. Whether your brand takes you to Bali, China, India, Vietnam, or Portugal, we place you with the factory best suited to your requirements and product type. See our full factory network.

06. Step-by-Step Design and Manufacturing Process

You get access to our exclusive online project timeline management system. We want you to understand every step involved, so we can plan your range accordingly and you are never left guessing what happens next. Learn more about working with our manufacturing team.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Fashion Framework

The Fashion Framework is a 1:1 mentorship and production management program from Visionise. It guides start-up clothing brand founders through the full process of designing, developing samples, and getting into bulk production, with a dedicated Senior Fashion Designer and Production Manager alongside them at every step.

Many clients start with us without having a business name registered yet — just design ideas on a mood board. That is fine. We will give you a guide on all the business set-up you need to do, but none of that admin is a prerequisite for starting. Bring your vision, sketches, mood boards, and design ideas — that is enough to begin.

Step 1 (Concept Development and Quotation) is AUD $3300 inc GST. Steps 2 and 3 are each AUD $1870 inc GST and are optional.

The Fashion Framework is designed for a typical start-up brand with 5–6 styles in 2–3 colours. This is the size we generally recommend as the sweet spot to keep the process efficient and the investment worthwhile. If your range is significantly larger, highly complex, or if the current range plan is still vague and requires substantial refinement, additional design time will be needed and charged at an hourly rate.

Additional costs you can expect (based on number of styles and complexity): tech packs, branding and packaging, sample reports, tech pack updates, physical samples, fabrics, shipping, and manufacturing. Find more details in our guide on the cost to start a clothing brand in Australia.

No. Step 1 is the core program and covers your concept development, range planning, and production quotation. Steps 2 and 3 are optional additions for brands who want Visionise to continue managing their sample development and bulk production process. Many clients complete all three; others take Step 1 and manage the remaining stages independently.

After completing Step 1, you are welcome to shop around with other factories using the tech packs we made for you — you own them. There are, however, some significant advantages for a start-up to produce with our manufacturing partners: our long-term relationships and volume of business provide competitive pricing, higher priority, and stronger security than what a start-up would typically achieve on their own.

If you approve a quotation with our factory and want to move forward, and you have no prior experience with managing overseas manufacturers, then Steps 2 and 3 are individual requirements to ensure the process of developing and producing the first range (the hardest one) is as streamlined as possible — reducing back-and-forth, unnecessary sample rounds, and costly mistakes for both you and the factory. This is how we maintain relationships with our manufacturing partners.

After your first production run, you have had a crash course in how to do it all, and we will formally introduce you to take over the reins, managing all communication with the factory directly (if that is what you want). You can still use our on-demand services if you need assistance after this point.

Yes — we can help you exactly the same way. The difference is that we do not have the same relationship and pull-power with a factory we have not worked with before, but we have the know-how and the resources, so we can certainly navigate the journey for you to be as streamlined as possible.

No. The Fashion Framework is designed for founders at the very beginning of their journey. Creating your tech packs is part of the process. Your designer works with you to develop your designs into production-ready documentation as part of the program.

You will work with the designer, using templates and resources provided, to complete a Design Handover, which is what we use to create tech packs. Tech packs are an add-on cost based on number of styles and complexity.

It depends. We will assess your tech packs and determine which of the scenarios below is the best path forward:

Scenario 1. If your tech packs are sufficient, we can proceed to arrange a production quotation, and if you accept the quote we can skip Step 1 and offer you a custom Step 2 (which includes some items from Step 1 but not all). In this case, you will still need to have your tech packs updated/re-created at the sample reporting stage — learn more here: When tech pack recreation is needed.

Scenario 2. If your tech packs are not sufficient to be used for quotation and initial sample, but there are no major design or material changes, then your design files / current tech packs may be used as a design brief for new tech packs to be made. In this case, you can book with us to create your tech packs, skip Step 1, and start a Custom Step 2 as explained above.

That is exactly where most clients start. You do not need finished designs, technical drawings, or industry knowledge. You just need a vision and the commitment to build it. Our team takes your ideas — sketches, reference images, mood boards, descriptions — and develops them into a professional, production-ready range.

Visionise has long-standing relationships with ethical, high-quality manufacturers in Bali, China, India, Vietnam, and Portugal. Every factory in our network is vetted for quality standards and ethical labour practices. You are matched with the factory best suited to your product type, volume, and requirements. See our clothing manufacturers page for more detail.

The Fashion Framework is for start-ups and early-stage brands who want end-to-end guidance through design, development, and production. The Manufacturing Platform is for founders who already have offshore manufacturing experience or have completed the Fashion Framework, and just need direct factory access with optional Visionise support. If you are not sure which fits your situation, book a free discovery call.

Timelines vary depending on your product type, the complexity of your range, and your factory’s production schedule. We build a realistic project timeline with you in Step 1 so you always know what to expect. See our guide on development and production lead times for more detail.

Yes. All Visionise design services are available to Fashion Framework clients on an on-demand basis. This includes additional tech packs, print design, branding and logo design, packaging, and more. You can access on-demand services at any stage of your project.

No- because we don’t know the scope of a tech pack job until the design handover is 100% complete (along with reference samples).  The design handover is something we work on with our clients through Step; it includes all the detail we need to clarify and confirm before we build a comprehensive tech pack.

The design templates we provided are set up in a way that will make the tech pack job clear and ensure we don’t run into surprises that will halt the process and increase costs once the job has started.

Tech packs are quoted based on complexity and number of styles and colour/print variations

Our tech packs are the highest quality and are designed to reduce time and cost in the sample and bulk production process, such as unnecessary sample rounds and, most importantly, ensure your bulk production turns out correct! Tech pack costs range from AUD 612  to $1326 for an Intensive level.

Why the Fashion Framework Works

Most founders who try to go it alone spend months researching, waste money on the wrong manufacturers, and make costly mistakes that set their brand back by a year or more — or never even launch. The Fashion Framework exists to fix that.

With a dedicated designer in your corner from day one, you move faster, spend smarter, and arrive at bulk production with a range you are genuinely proud of. Our clients regularly tell us they could not have launched without us, and many come back for their second and third ranges to be managed or assisted by us — or they take the reins in-house and request our assistance on a need basis for jobs such as tech packs or sample reports.

As Australia’s first full-service design and manufacturing agency, Visionise sets the standard with unmatched expertise, proven systems, and long-standing factory relationships that give you access and protection you simply cannot get approaching manufacturers independently.
